I had a weird dream last night....

Every now and then I wake up and tell my husband, "I had a weird dream last night..." and then proceed to tell him about it.  Inevitably he looks at me and quite sarcastically says, "You? You had a weird dream?  I can’t believe it!"  He usually rolls his eyes and tries to get comfortable at this point.  Well this morning he looked at me and started to laugh and said that I should write out some of my dreams on a blog.  He thinks people will get a kick out of some of them and I think he secretly hopes I'll get a book or movie deal for at least one of them – Ha - Like that would happen.  ;)
Anywho...so that leads me to this blog that I started about a week or two ago and haven't yet determined what I would blog about.  Well I guess I have a topic for my first post now.  And now I say to you....

I had a weird dream last night....

My dream started with me in a very, very small apartment in what appeared to be New Orleans. I've only been to New Orleans only once but fell in love with the beautiful, history filled town.  In this particular apartment I was on the third floor and had a window that looked out over several miles of town.  While enjoying the view I saw something that looked like an explosion. Only it looked like it was rippling towards us.  Instantly I thought, earthquake.  It must be an earthquake, albeit a slow moving one.  Then I see the water start coming towards us.  I start to close the blinds to all the windows except the one where I see the water coming at us.  I put glasses in the sink and move items that might be dangerous in an earthquake if left out.  Meanwhile my husband is sitting at the table across from me drinking his coffee and reading the paper.  The water covers the first two floors of the bldg. and now it seems like we are on the first floor.  Nothing exciting happens to us yet.  As I look out the window again I see my mother on a balcony waving to us from across town.  “We have to get to her,” I say.  So we wind up in a boat of sorts made from what seems to be part of a light fixture. (You know the lights in an office with the long tubes; they fit into a case that is usually made of metal.  In my dream the case was made of some sort of polymer that was water tight and when flipped over made for a great boat.)

So, I have no paddle, my husband is in front of our makeshift boat paddling away and I just sit panicking and rushing him along hoping to get to my mother quicker.  Somehow we pull up on dry land and start running around the corner to get to my mother’s home only to find one more obstacle.  There is more water here and we need the boat again but we left it on the street where we landed.  So, we run back get the boat and somehow that helps us to get to her apartment.  We get upstairs and she’s calmly getting ready for work.  Her dogs are excited to see us and are jumping around as usual.  I ask if she’s ok and tell her we’re going to help her get out of here and she regally waves a hand at me and says “Don’t worry I’ve called for a limo.”  Needless to say I’m stunned silent (For those that don’t know me; that is nearly impossible!).  I ask her about the water and how a limo will circumnavigate the flooding and she tells me it will recede in a matter of minutes.  A short while later we’re all crammed up front with the limo driver.  The back seat is empty until we stop to pick up the IT guy for my mom’s business.  I’ve known him since I was 17 or 18 years old.  He’s a good friend to all of us.  He’s really tall and quite funny.  So he’s stretched out in the back of the limo while we drive around picking up the rest of the employees.  Let me take a moment to note here that we somehow arrived in Jersey City, NJ where the company is.  So we are driving up the Blvd., stopping at the bus stops to pick up employees and let those that have classes etc. out.  At one particular bus stop, some guy we don’t know gets into the limo and starts to clean things up before he sits.  He’s wearing a suit jacket, dress shirt and tie along with 4 inch spike heels, hose and a short skirt while carrying a briefcase.   We all look at each other as no one knows who he is and shrug.  Soon after others start to use the limo as though it were a city bus and get on and off as though it were normal to be picked up in a limo.
That’s when I woke up to the sound of rain outside the window.  I’m not sure what my dream means or if it means anything other than I’ve heard some interesting stories lately (like the one about a friend of ours walking up Black’s beach in San Diego, a well known nude beach, on a cold day where he saw a man wearing a sweatshirt and nothing else on.  Apparently he was adamant about everyone seeing he had nothing else on too.)  And probably watch too much weather channel.  Who knows anyway thanks for reading.
